The short version: SleepRook has no server, no account system, and no analytics. Every sleep entry you log stays in your browser's local storage, on your own device. Nothing about your sleep is ever sent anywhere.
What information SleepRook collects
The app itself collects no personal information. It never asks for your name, email address, or any kind of account.
The only data that exists is what you type into the sleep-log form: a date, a session type (main sleep or nap), a bedtime, a wake time, and the hours calculated from those. That is the entire dataset SleepRook works with.
Where your data is stored
- Local storage only. All entries live in your web browser's local storage — a small, private data store built into every browser, scoped to this site alone — on the device and in the browser you used to enter them.
- Never transmitted. Your entries are never sent to SleepRook, to us, or to any third party, because the app has no server to send them to.
- No automatic sync. Data does not move between devices or browsers on its own. Use the "Export data" button on the main page to save a backup file, and "Import backup" to bring it into another browser or device.
Cookies, analytics, and third parties
SleepRook sets no cookies, runs no analytics or tracking scripts (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, nothing similar), and loads no third-party embeds, fonts, or ad networks. Once the page has finished loading, it makes no network requests of any kind — you're welcome to confirm this yourself in your browser's developer tools, under the Network tab.
Standard web server logs
One honest distinction: the hosting provider that serves this website may keep its own basic server logs — for example, IP addresses and timestamps of page requests — for security and reliability, the same way essentially every website on the internet does. That logging happens at the web server level, is standard practice, and is separate from and outside the control of the SleepRook application itself. The app does not access, forward, or make any use of that information.
Your data, your control
- Export — download all of your entries as a plain JSON file at any time.
- Import — restore a previously exported backup into any browser.
- Delete — use "Clear all data" on the main page to erase everything instantly, or simply clear your browser's site data or history. Either removes it completely, since nothing exists anywhere else.
Children's privacy
SleepRook is intended for adults and is not directed at children. Because the app collects no information from any user, no data of any kind is gathered from children either.
Changes to this policy
If how this application works ever changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated to reflect it.
